New Office Rug

Direct Home Textiles Four Seasons® Collection Textured Stripe Khaki Rug
So, I know it's nothing like the one I said I liked below.  But... a couple of things.
1. I needed a rug that my office stair can easily roll over.
2.  I really wanted to bring a natural material into the space, especially since I went with a painted desk.
3. I love the natual color, and the stripes give it that something special, without being the focal point of the room.
4. This one was $50! Umm, sold.
It's coming together!
Now, I'd love to find a chair like this.

New Office Design

Today I gave my two week notice for my stable, 9-to-5 job, in persuit of starting my own consulting business.  It's overwhelmingly scary AND exciting.

A particularly exciting part... Decorating my 'new' home office!

We've always had a dedicated office space in our home, but lately it has been a dumping ground for all non-essentials during our kitchen/dining room reno.

Everyone likes a good before right?
(It's nearly impossible to get a good shot of this space with the hall closet bump out (oh.. and my wedding dress still hanging on the back of the door since 2008 - oops.)

It's a small (teeny-tiny), about 8x8.

So, now for the P-L-A-N:

Here's the desk I bought (should arrive Wednesday - yes!)

...and that's as far as I've gotten - LOL.

The filing cabinet shown the background above will likely stay, and remember the painted table?  Maybe used as a printer stand?
It stills needs several top coats, and then I'll reveal, promise.

I also really love this rug... but I have committment issues.  I think I need to find some fun colorful curtains to go with... or fabric to DIY them before I pull the trigger on the rug.

Kitchen Reno

We're in the long and slow process of renovating our ktichen.  Actually, moving our kitchen into the current dining room space.  My wonderfully handy husband has taken on the job solo, so it's a slower process than most are used to, but it's allowing us to purchase items as we find them, and as they go on sale.  {Bonus!}

Here's what it looks like today:

Its a relatively small space, so we've settled on white cabinets and stainless appliances.  As for the rest, we have ideas, but nothing set in... umm.. stone.

Here are a few of my design inspirations:

I'm loving the white subway tiles:

Definitely planning a little coffee nook after seeing this one over at JonesDesignCompany:

I dream of a kitchen large enough for a full island, but it's not in the cards.  We just might be able to squeeze in a high table like this one:

But it can only be 18-20" deep.  I'll be keeping my eye out, and hoping for a antique score.

More to come!
